Who are we?
We’re a small team of experienced tech, insurance and Ops people, based in Paris, London and Berlin, at the early stage of our adventure! We’re well funded too! 😉 We believe in open, transparent teams, filled with quality people who work as one team to transform an industry.
The serious business bit…
We’re an insurance company like no other. We bring the often complicated, stuffy world of insurance into the 21st century with our cutting edge technology; disrupting the way traditional financial services are distributed to today’s SMEs.
1 in 4 SME bankruptcies are caused by cash flow problems, from clients not paying invoices. Almost none of these SMEs know this risk can be insured, and their business saved. Complex insurance products are out of reach from the companies who would benefit the most from them. We want to solve this, help businesses stay alive and grow. We know this is a massive untapped market and aspire to address it.
Who are you?
An important aspect of the role is to analyse financial and non-financial information in order to determine the creditworthiness of potential clients. The ability to use judgement and make recommendations as to the quality of a companies credit score. Fraud risk is obviously a key concern within the insurance industry and therefore knowing to be diligent in this area is paramount.
Keeping an eye on where commercial opportunities lie and administering all of this information concisely and accurately is also paramount. We are looking for someone motivated by making an impact with the ability to understand the value of attention to detail while also being able to see the bigger picture.
In addition to financial analysis expertise, business acumen, judgment and common sense are also fundamental to make the most appropriate recommendations. Good communication skills (esp. written) are also paramount to ensure fluid interactions with other teams, policyholders and with external partners (our insurance backers, external collections agencies etc.).
You will have the responsibility of updating the current credit risk monitoring tools, monitoring trends within our portfolio, identifying how external events could affect our risk profile and adjusting our underwriting stance accordingly. Reporting on risk events, losses, conflicts of interest, insurance limits will also be part of the role. Being able to escalate where necessary and advise on next steps / provide a reasonable solution open to discussion is crucial.
As a Credit Analyst at Hokodo you will know how to use data to bring credit risk modelling and forecasting alive. You are quick to learn new technologies but have the support of our data science team and know the importance of stress testing everything.
What’s in it for you…
Salary, benefits and equity can be discussed but aside from the assumed, we’re offering the chance to really make a difference on a product that makes sense. You’ll be working side by side with the founders in a very flat structure. The opportunity for personal growth in a fast moving startup is very real.
We are growing fast (founded in March 2018, already 19 FTEs) and are reinventing our industry with the latest technology (machine learning, APIs, cloud services).
